Speaking during the holy mass, Bishop Eduardo Hiboro acknowledged the support rendered by the government towards the forth coming centenary celebration in Mopoi on 12 Dec 2012.

He further added that the diocese will install an FM Radio in Mopoi before the occasion that will cover up to 8 squares miles.

He gave thanks to the traditional leaders for welcoming the missionaries to this diocese which has brought faith among the community.

Bishop disclosed that three countries will celebrate the centenary this year including Tombura Yambio Diocese in South Sudan, Arua Diocese in Uganda and Awuru Diocese in Nigeria.

Western Equatoria Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro said that the government will prioritize some key elements like water sources, food items, accommodation, security, transportation and public address system as they prepare to host visitors.

Bakosoro urged everybody to be creative during the occasion and avoid misbehaviour like too much alcohol as the government will take relevant security measures during the celebrations.

The governor said that the President and all the governors of South Sudan will attend the celebration thus people should start to strategize on how the president will be received for the first time in Tombura County following the Independence of the Republic of South Sudan.

The celebration was attended by government officials including the Tombura County Commissioner, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Deputy Governor, State Security Advisor, ministers and Members of Parliament.

The Diocese of Tombura, approximately 120 kilometers from Yambio, will be celebrating 100 years of the Christian faith on 12 December 2012.

Comboni missionaries arrived in December 1912 to start evangelisation in Western Equatoria State. The cross is planned to tour all parishes from Maridi to Tombura through Yambio and finally Mupoi Parish, the venue for the celebrations
