She made the remarks after the closure of the three days dialogue between that parties that was opened by President Salva Kiir who heads the ruling party.

“This is in fact an implementation of MOU that we signed with the Norwegian Labour Party three years ago. This is an agreement on the basis of the similarity of ideology to support each other and we have resolved that our ideology will not change,” she said.

Itto said that the move is in regards to the party moving from a liberation movement to a free and independent South Sudan.

“We have a historical responsibility of building the state and nation of our dream which is building a just, free, and prosperous and a proud nation,” she added.

She also said that her party invited the NLP to sit with them and to begin looking at their ideology to serve as an example and build a better understanding around it and be able to translate it into the priorities for the South Sudanese government.

The SPLM ideology centres on unity, progress and equality while the NLP centres on NLP freedom, solidarity and equality.

She further revealed that they have come up with an action plan which the secretariat will put together and present it to the political bureau leadership.

“The outcome will be shared by all the states to get their views in terms of the education programs and economic programs,” she said.

Dr. Itto said that the move will put the state at a level where the citizens can experience real prosperity, freedom, and the policies of the economy while focusing on education.

She said that SPLM will be focusing on building human capital which is fundamentally important in nation building.
