“Teachers are trained before getting into the class with the new text books that may be very difficult to them,” Gatluak said.

Gatluak urged the teachers to be productive in their day to day teaching and to give their students good knowledge for they are the future of the new nation.

He also urges the teachers to use this important knowledge in their respective schools.

The State Ministry of Education since the establishment of the autonomous South Sudan, teachers were facing gradual monthly screening as many did not have adequate qualifications.

Recently, many of the teachers left the profession to look for better paying jobs in oil companies and NGOs, a factor which has affected the education ministry.

Gatluak urged the teachers to tolerate this situation and to make use of the little amount they receive as the situation will improve in the near future when austerity measure is over.

The training is attended by the teachers from Guit, Rubkona, Abiemnhom, Pariang, Mayom and Bentiu.

Although teachers are quitting their jobs, a little progress is in place as the ministry is in a process to recruiting more teachers to take the jobs.

Due to austerity measures that led to the government downsizing, the Ministry of Labour, Public Services and Human Resource Development was directed to sack all civil servants who left government jobs to look for better paying jobs in the oil companies and NGOs and their names are still active in the pay roll.

The training was supported by WINROCK International.
