Olympian Oscar Pistorius’ lawyers have filed an appeal in a South African court against bail restrictions. Pistorius is charged with murdering his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. He was released on bail on 22nd February and is due to appear in court again in June.

“The conditions appealed against are unwarranted and not substantiated by the facts,” said the appeal, which was filed Friday in Pretoria, the South African capital.

According to Pisotrius’ close family friend Mike Azzie, the athlete is on the verge of suicide. Denying that Pistorius could ever take anyone’s life, Azzie said Pistorius was forced to sell his belongings after rising legal costs.

Pistorius is accused of murdering Steenkamp, a law graduate and a model. He has denied all charges alleging he shot through a bathroom door because he thought there was an intruder in the house. He did not realize Steenkamp was on the other side.

“I fail to understand how I could be charged with murder; let alone premeditated murder, as I had no intention to kill my girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp… We were deeply in love and I could not be happier. I know she felt the same way. She had given me a Valentine’s Day present but asked me only to open it the next day,” Pistorius said in a statement.

Father of Oscar Pistorius accuses the ANC government for defaming his son and forcing him to carry around a weapon for safety purposes. The ANC in return say they want nothing to do with the Paralympics star or his family.

“Some of the guns are for hunting and some are for protection, the handguns. It speaks to the ANC government, look at white crime levels, why protection is so poor in this country; it’s an aspect of our society,” he said.
