The team’s Head Coach, Puro Okelo Obo revealed that the 10 man team is invited to compete on 19 April but because of the financial difficulties, only six will represent the country.

“I have Simba Bus Company which is going to support us they have given us half of the tickets for the whole team to and fro. I also have Vivacell sponsoring us for the team to go to Uganda and also Ethiopia this year,” he said.

“We shall have the African Continent Kickboxing Championship going to take place here in Juba to celebrate our second anniversary for Independence. We have also agreed with Vivacell for them to sponsor it as well,” he added.

“The winners of the July 5th will receive World Kickboxing Federation Belt. The team must prepare very well because this is amounting to a World Cup for your information, these will include, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, we are extending our invitation to South Africa,” Puro stressed.

He said that the President of the World Kickboxing Federation will be present during the tournament in Juba.

The number of fans for kickboxing in South Sudan is increasing every time there is a competition as well as sponsors to the game.

This year 24 kick boxers and Karate fighters participated in championship hosted by South Sudan.

It was the first time South Sudan hosted such a special event to showcase the local talent and promote the youth as ambassadors of South Sudan.
