Sudan Catholic Radio Network reports that the mass was to pray for the soul of Bishop Akio and also strengthen the Christians of the catholic diocese of Torit.
Fr. Mark Opere, the official representative of the Catholic Diocese of Torit to Europe and America assisted by Fr. Leonsio Omina presided over the mass.
Fr. Omina said several priests in the diocese of Vicenza turned up to concelebrate the memorial mass.
Fr. Omina elaborated that the congregation assembled in the parish hall to share words and testimonies about the life of late Bishop Akio after the mass.
The Christians in Torit have been urged to remain strong and continue implementing and upholding the late dreams of the late bishop.
Bishop Akio died last month in Nairobi due to kidney problem and has been buried in Torit.
