The Executive Director of Uror County, Deng Gak Atem has told Gurtong that the strong wind on Sunday blew off more than eighty houses and six people sustained injuries on their bodies including a two-year old boy.

“Yesterday [Sunday] a strong wind blowing across from south to the northern direction has caused a very big distraction in different places around the town of Yuai, it has wounded six people and damaged sixteen shops in the market and 85 grass-thatched shelters,” Deng said.

Dend said that other two permanent school roofs have also been blow off by the storm.

At Yuai Primary School, three classroom roofs are reported to have been blow off.

The director said that the heavy wind usually cause damages to them annually.

He said that displaced persons are currently being sheltered by their relatives while the injured are being treated at Yuai Dispensary.

The Commissioner of Uror County, Simon Hoth Dol also calls upon the State government and the State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission to provide the displaced persons especially the vulnerable people with shelter and other non food items.

In March a rainstorm destroyed buildings in Bor town where more than 20 people were injured.

More than 100 pupils from St. Andrew’s Primary School sustained injuries during the incident.
