The State Minister of Physical Infrastructure Anguei Diing told Gurtong that the intervention was necessitated by the perennial flooding that hits the area.

Diing told residents at Riang Aluelweeng where the residents were being allocated land that the state authorities will assist displaced residents so that they can lead decent and productive lives.

“This residential area is meant for everybody. All those who applied and are found suitable will be given pieces of land. We are here to serve you and all we require from you is peace and harmony”, said the Minister.

Area residents have previously complained of irregular land allocations, saying some government officials were grabbing land meant to settle the displaced.

The residents have called for equality in allocation of land regardless of status in society and political affiliation.

Maper North was hit by fraudulent land allocations early this year.
