“That was very unfortunate attack on our civilians where the victims were women who had gone to fetch local grass for thatching their local Tukuls,” Manut Ayiei, an area resident, working in a community Primary Health Care Unit [PHCU] told Gurtong.
“The attackers came and surrounded their location and gathered them in one place and cut them in several shots and others were beheaded.” Two soldiers have been reportedly killed during the same attack as they attempted to pursue the assailants who looted about 200 heads of cattle.
“Out of 14 killed, there were other two SPLA soldiers who were also killed while pursuing the attackers. The number of killed civilians with soldiers is not statistically confirmed at the moment,” Manut said.
“These attackers also rustled over 200 heads of cattle and young girls abducted.” At press time, Gurtong could not get any comment from the state government as the contact of the acting information minister was off.
