Authority in South Sudan’s Western Bahr elGhazal State said measures are in place along its border state of Western Equatoria which bordesr the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where there have been reports of five Ebola cases since it sparked this year mostly in West African states .

Speaking to Gurtong on Thursday, the state Health minister Isaac Clerto said his state have formed a task force committee to monitor the movement of the people coming from Western Equatoria state which borders to DRC.

“The national ministry have deployed personnel term at Juba international airport checking people entering the country from other countries through daily domestic flights,” said Clerto adding that the precautions are not to band people from entering South Sudan but to secure the country from being affected by the virus brought from foreign countries.

Clerto said Western Bahr el Ghazal have already trained 65 personnel and will be based at border areas to take precautions on those entering the state through Central Africa border and neighboring Western Equatoria state.

“Our state is at high alert to report any suspect if it happens within the community,” said Clerto.

Clerto said the state authority has banned hunting of wild animals, which are the likely carries of the virus to the people.
