South Sudan Western Bahr el Ghazal State representatives of the Traditional Leaders, Faith based groups, Civil Society, Women, youth, Trade union, Workers union, Farmers unions, Students and Political parties have today concluded a three days mini conference on peace and reconciliation.

The conference, which started on Tuesday, which was opened by South Sudan Vice President James Wani Igga, was facilitated by Ambassador Bethuel Kiplagat of Kenya, national facilitator Dr. Jaafar Karim and assisted by Hon. Derick Oya.

The conference was also attended by the national Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Mark Nyipouch Ubong.

During the reconciliation conference, Western Bahr el Ghazal state citizens said they remain united in common heritage and common aspirations, desirous to live in a secure, peaceful and harmonious
south Sudan.

“We are desirous for peace, justice and prosperity in south Sudan,’’

In the declaration released after the conference and seen by Sudan Tribune, “we are aware of our shared obligations towards each other including living in peace with each other, not harming each other in any way in pursuit of moral, political or commercial goals,’ said the released.

The declaration statement said people of Western Bahr el Ghazal state are committed to their democratic legitimate 2010 elected government of the state and of the Republic of South Sudan, committed to rule of
law.

The resolutions of the conference call on the people of the region to support and endorse the IGAD protocol on agreed principle on transitional arrangement toward resolution of the crisis in  south
Sudan signed by president Kiir Mayardit and other IGAD leaders in Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on 25th of August last month.

The conference ended with calls for war to stop immediately and urged the SPLM In Opposition to sign the IGAD protocol of August 25th 2014.

“We call for reformation of the security sector and enactment of the national security law,’ said the statement.

The people of Western Bahr el Ghazal state during the conference appealed for creation of seven new counties and municipalities as per the 2005 Mapel’s March conference, demarcation of internal borders between its neighboring states as well as national financing increase in the state’s grant to allow the state to pay civil servants respectively.
