South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal State released senior secondary school leaving examination results with Wau town emerging on the top, followed by John Paul.

The state is also being confirmed the 5th in the Republic of south Sudan after Lakes State was announced the first performing state with 82.2% in the country for the 2013 secondary schoolleaving examination results, while Eastern Equatoria was placed last.

In Western Bahr el Ghazal state, Wau Standard shined high with 96.7 % while John Paul secondary school scored 89.7 %.

According to the results announced on Monday morning, Samuel Mabek Mario with 89.3% from Standard Secondary School was leading among the top ten students.

Out of the 3,532 students who set for exams, 1,726 students passed the exams in Western Bahr el Ghazal state,

Speaking during the announcement occasion at the ministry of Education on Monday in Wau town, the state minister for education Michael Maduct Chan blamed government schools in the state for their poor performances. It was clear that government schools did not perform better than private schools.

However the minster applauds student’s hard work at private schools, while he urged the directors at the ministry to investigate the student’s poor performance at government’s schools.
