Mr. Ngong Chan was elected as the leader of the youth league in 2010 and has since been the party’s chairperson.

According to the senior SPLM Youth League member, Mr. Tito Achiech Kuol-awiekwiir the members of the SPLM youth league in the county have lost confidence in their chairperson and are calling upon the Head party in the state to conduct an investigation into the matter.

“We are asking the leadership of our party, the SPLM to listen to the cry and voices of youth in Aweil East County for the mistreatment and poor leadership from our Youth League leader who fails to follow the path and objectives of our party.” Says Achiech.

He claims that last year funds amounting to 80,000 South Sudanese pounds were given by the party’s Secretariat in the state capital to renovate offices belonging to the youth league party but no accountability has been done as the offices were not renovated.

He also alleged that some assets including land-cruisers have been used for personal purposes and not the party’s.

“The chairman of SPLM Youth League in the county has a problem and his problems are numerous as he began owning assets and using income generating activities for the party and yet the auditing is not being made. He has privatized all assets.”

The SPLM Chairperson in the state, Garang Wol Kon Amuoi, says that he has not received any officialcomplaint on the matter and can therefore not act upon it.

“Up to this juncture, I can’t respond whether the accusations are true or false, I can’t defend him or condemn him for the act because none of the either sides has approached my office for this matter. So if Ngong Chan knows very well that he is answerable to my office here in the state, then he would have contacted me on this; and if he knows very well that he has a problem; then he would have reported to me for the intervention but now since I was not informed about the pressure happening there in the county, I won’t bother since the accused knows very well that he is capable of settling the disputes independently.”

Ngon Chan could not be reached for a response as his party members push for an investigation against him and for his removal as the leader of the SPLM Youth leader in Aweil East County.
