Major General Edward Demitry Luka says if found guilty they will face the consequences according to the regulations and the existing police act.

“Because the 13 were on duty, therefore they might have facilitated the process leading to the culprits’escape. I think it was clearly their own negligence, not knowing consequences. They will now face the law. They have to prepare to defend themselves during the ongoing questionings. Once proved guilty, they get charged with punishment in accordance with our regulations and the existing police act that governs such behavior. During that day, we increased the number of the guards who were working because we had negative information about the town and we increased the number to thirteen police men and five officers, all of them were there but unfortunately the escape happened.”

Torit County Commissioner, German Charles Ojok says it may take long for the government to apprehend those who escaped because they could have deeply gone into hiding in the bushes.

However, Ojok expressed optimism that his administration in collaboration with those of the state Government and police leaderships in conjunction with the Loronyo community leadership using community policing, are strategizing to find the culprits.

He is urging the Loronyo community to cooperate and assist to report if one of the suspects is seen.

Those who escaped were part of a gang of 25 who were arrested last December for charges of mass murderin Loronyo.

The Loronyo attack that led to the death of about 30 people including women and children last December was as a result of a cattle raid between the Loronyo community and the Idali Community of Lopita area.
