Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, announced during a press briefing that the murderers of renowned Qawwal, Amjad Sabri, have been arrested and the murder resolved to be part of sectarian killings in the city. According to Mr. Shah, two target killers involved in Amjad Sabri’s murder, including Isehaque alias Bobby and Asim alias Capri, have also confessed to numerous other crimes.

Addressing the media at Central Police office (CPO) Karachi, Mr. Shah revealed that the terrorists belonged to Lashkar-i-Jhangvi-Naeem Bokhari group and were captured in a raid in the city’s Liaqatabad area by the counter terrorism department (CTD). He explained that heavy weaponry was also seized from the culprits including 3 SMGs, 27 Pistols, 2 hand grenades, 2 MP5 rifles and other explosive material. It was added that forensic reports of the recovered weapons prove that the arrested terrorists were involved in 28 crimes. The incidents include the attack on Nazimabad majlis on October 29 that killed 5 people, attack on another majlis on July 26 attack on army personnel in Saddar on October 17 and the murder of famous Qawwal Amjad Sabri on June 22, 2016.

CM Sindh stated that “the terrorists have confessed that excluding these activities, they killed 12 more police constables and 7 Shia persons.” The CM Sindh was accompanied by Inspector General of Sindh Police Allah Dino Khuwaja, Karachi Police Chief Mushtaq Mahar, Inspector CTD Raja Umar Khitab, and others at the press conference.
