MayawatiAccording to leaked US diplomatic cables, Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Mayawati approach herself as rescuer of the country’s "untouchables" sent her private jet to select a pair of sandals. According to the sources, US embassy cables from 2007 to 2009 released by the WikiLeaks website in recent days describe Mayawati, 55, as "a first-rate egomaniac" who "is obsessed with becoming prime minister".

The sources said that Mayawati enjoyed her pretty birthday each year by receiving million of US dollars as gifts from "sycophantic party members, civil servants and business people" and during this the officials compete for a chance to feed her pretty cake.

It was also noticed that whenever she needed a new pair of sandals private plane would flew empty to Mumbai to find her favorite brand, this appeared form the cable dated October 23, 2008. This was also read that she has hired a dozen cooks where only 2 of them would cook and the rest of them will watch them while cooking.

Mayawati has constructed a personal road from her house to her workplace, which is cleaned immediately after her multiple vehicle group reaches its destination; this is what the cable said in an investigation and an analysis of her "eccentricities, whims and insecurities".

In that recent account of Mayawati there was something very interesting to note that a state minister did sit-ups in front of Mayawati as punishment for a protocol blunder, and reported it cost US $250,000 to run as a BSP parliamentary candidate due to "institutionalized corruption".

Mayawati has frequently been criticized for over-spending, constructing enormous statues of her in public parks and of course being greeted at rallies with garlands made out of Rs. 1000 notes.

It was noticed that an unmarried former school teacher, who was known as the "Dalit Queen" for Mayawati’s loyal vote base, did not immediately react to the pellucid allegations made in the cables.
