Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Chief Minister has won Bhowanipore by-election.
"Mamata Banerjee has won from Bhowanipore assembly constituency. The victory margin is 54,213 votes," said a senior election official on Wednesday. She won by a huge margin.
Mamata Banerjee scored a thrashing win in the Bhowanipore by-election. This was her first win from the assembly seats.
She defeated Nandini Mukherjee of CPM.
After the announcement of results, while talking to the media, she said, "I couldn’t campaign much in Bhowanipore. Turnout of voters was low due to inclement weather. I thank all those who had voted for me and my government."
On the other hand, the most significant is the sadness of CMP which shows no sign of being removed. The party had considerable hopes of keeping hold of the Basirhat North assembly seat.
In Basirhat North, CPM nominee Subid Ali Gazi was defeated by the Trinamool Congress’s Abdullah by 30, 941 votes.
Many politicians congratulate Mamata Banerjee for her thumping win. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee also congratulated the winner.
Mamata Banerjee dedicated her excellent win to the people of her constituency.
