Just a few hours after the twitter account of Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, was hacked, the Congress also found its official account hacked as it posted abusive tweets. In addition to the party’s twitter account, their website inc.in was also hacked. However, all the abusive tweets posted on Congress’s Twitter account,@INCIndia, earlier on Thursday were removed within 30 minutes.

In his remarks, Gandhi mentioned that “it’s a huge question mark on the digital security.” The Delhi Police has announced to have registered an FIR into the hacking incident on the basis of a complaint filed on Wednesday. It has vowed to have launch an investigation and said that it’s going looking at all aspects regarding cybercrime. Earlier on Wednesday evening, Gandhi’s Twitter account was hacked similarly and several abusive tweets posted were at the time were taken down hours later. The party has called the hacking “unscrupulous, unethical and roguish” and blamed internet trolls for the act. A ‘fascist culture’ was behind the act, the Congress said.

According to the party spokesman, Randeep Surjewala, “such unscrupulous, unethical and roguish conduct of venal trolls to hack @OfficeOfRG reflects disturbing insecurities of prevalent fascist culture.” It remains to be seen who was behind the hacking. Although the party has filed a complaint with the cyber cell of the Delhi Police over Gandhi’s Twitter account being hacked but the matter is anticipated to still reach both Houses of Parliament in the ongoing winter session as the Congress plans to raise it.
