Despite pressure from the party leadership, former West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will not be attending the CPM politburo meeting in New Delhi on October 17.
CPM sources have revealed that there was no reply from Bhattacharjee on presence in the meeting. “It is quite clear now that he will be skipping the meeting of politburo,” the sources said adding two other politburo members from West Bengal Biman Bose and Nirupam Sen would be leaving for Delhi tomorrow.
“Bhattacharjee seems unenthusiastic to undertake any journey to Delhi even by train citing respiratory problems,” the sources said. Bhattacharjee has been skipping meetings of CPM central committee and politburo, of which he is a member, since the assembly elections in West Bengal earlier this year saw the downfall of the 34-year-old Left Front reign.
