Oommen ChandyAfter he chaired a cabinet meeting over the Mullaperiyar dam row Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy has now said that he’s open to negotiations with the Tamil Nadu Government to find a resolution to the fight over the 116 year old dam. Chandy told TIMES NOW that he is hoping for an amicable resolution to the row that has intensified in the past few weeks.

The row over the Mullaperiyar dam began with a movie; ‘Dam 999’ escalating into a full fledged political slugfest , taking it to the doorstep of the central government.

The row over the Mullaperiyar dam only intensified with both Tamil Nadu and Kerala vying for their stand to be accepted.

But now after DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi’s scathing remark saying, “If the Kerala government has taken a decision, then Tamil Nadu does not need to abide by it. They are trying to deliberately play up the issue,” vindicating Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha’s letter to the PM, Kerala finally seems to be softening its tenor as it now attempts to buy a truce in the form of a special assembly session on the 9th of this month.
