Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was released from detention to reach Arroyo house Thursday morning to attend the wake of the ex-Negros Occidental Representative Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo who is her brother-in-law.

Ms. Arroyo arrived at the resident with quite a few guards surrounding her and the entire place. She reached the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 9:45 with her daughter Gabrielle, and other family members who included Bianca Arroyo and Grace Ibuna. Arroyo had taken permission from the court to leave for the burial of his late brother-in-law and a congressman.

Ibuna spoke to the media and said, “We will come home to Negros. That’s his last wish.”

Remains of the deceased congressman will lie in Arroyo house in Quezon City until Saturday from where he will be transferred to his wife’s place and finally taken to the House of Representatives on Monday for his necrological services. His colleagues will pay their respects there and he will then be flown to Bacolod for a three day wake. He will return to Arroyo house on 8th March and be buried beside his mother in Manila North Cemetery on Friday March 9.

Ms. Arroyo will be escorted by Regional Public Safety Battalion and Quezon City Police for her stay at the Arroyo residence.
