A fortnight after the tragic death of two fishermen at Kerala Coast shot by the naval guards of Italy, another boat incident takes away the life of two fishermen at Kerala with three still missing.
The incident took place early Thursday morning when an unrecognizable ship hit the fishermen boat off the Kollam Coast causing two confirmed deaths with the remaining three still not found. As per information of the initial investigations, ‘Don’ took off from Kollam with seven fishermen when it was hit by another unidentified ship. Two fishermen instantly jumped off and swam to the corner of the coast whereas the remaining could not save their lives.
Coast and Navy guards were sent to the deep waters to locate the other ship hitting the boat and to recover the dead bodies of those who lost their lives. Search teams have been successful in recovering only two dead bodies where three remain missing.
The Chief Minister of Keralla, Oommen Chandy has instructed for a detailed investigation to be conducted to figure out the origins of the unidentified ship killing two fishermen for sure up till now. Senior police officers have been requested by the CM Keralla to take interest in the investigation developments and help the search and rescue teams in any way possible.
The two dead fishermen have been identified as Xavior and Francis Augustine.
As per information from one of the survivors of the incident who is currently in the hospital, Michael, the ship hit their boat at about 3am and switched off its lights immediately after hitting and took off.
The incident has created a wave of panic in the fishermen community.
