BJP takes majority in Goa

BJP is raising to power in Goa with a majority of 17 seats won so far from a total of 40. Leader of BJP in Goa Manohar Parkiar announced ecstatically that with the series of event turning out; he will be the next chief minister of Goa. He said, “I have given a time schedule which I will follow. In the budget, we will make announcements like petrol VAT and inflation”.

He also commented “The Congress has been punished in Goa. I am proud of the fact that I got support from Hindus, Muslims and Christians alike. They have voted to save Goa”.

The party also won 4 seats elsewhere defeating their rival badly. Congress has only scored 8 seats so far with lead in one other.

Starting the election campaign with a clear cut voice against Congress, BJP has succeeded in its agenda and has completely ruled out Congress as per results of the 2012 elections. BJP has won several seats from the Congress dominated areas in the state. These include Tivim, Sanvordem, Curchorem, Cotalim, Vasco, Calangute, and Aldona.

BJP leaders winning seats include Mahadev Naik (Siroda), Ganesh Gaonkar (Sanvordem), Anant Shet (Maem), and Kiran Kandolker (Tivim). Other party leaders winning seats for separate constituencies include Nilesh Cabral and Ramesh Tawadkar.
