Remains of the late Senator Negros Occidental representative Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo Jr. were put to rest Friday afternoon in the North Cemetery in Manila.

Armed Forces of Philippines (AFP) paid the late senator a guard of honor as the friends and family of the deceased stood in sunlight to bid their beloved lawmaker the final farewell. The salute given by the AFP squad consisted of 21-guns. The coffin was brought to the cemetery with the guards along his brother, the ex-first gentleman, and his sons.

Arroyo family members present at the time of the memorial consisted of the late senator’s wife, Aleli, ex-first gentleman Jose Arroyo, Igg’s daughter and sons, Dato and Mikey, brother, and nephew.

When brought to the cemetery, the casket was first attended by the former President of Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, after which she was immediately taken back to the detention cell where she is kept in Quezon City.

Grace Ibuna, who preferred to remain low at the time of Iggy’s last respects at the House of Representatives, was also present at the burial time. Supporters and family members crowded under the tent as the men of the family laid Iggy to his final resting place.

Iggy expired in London during the month of January but his remains were brought to the home country in February where he travelled several places for his last respects and landed in North Cemetery for his final resting place.
