Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani has been declared guilty and given punishment on Thursday morning by the Supreme Court in the contempt of court case for not abiding by the orders of the court to write to Swiss authorities in regards to the graft cases of the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
PM attended the session of the court on Thursday morning along his two sons, lawyer, and countless other party members as he stood in the box for the criminals and the court announced its punishment stating that the PM is punished for his crime for the time he is in the court and the court is announcing the verdict, which made a punishment of a total of 32 seconds and the PM was a free man after the left the SC premises. The PM has not announced his resignation and has refrained from commenting on the matter other than saying that he will consult with his lawyer and submit and appeal against the decision of the SC.
Furthermore, PM returned to the PM House in Islamabad and called a session of his party and other coalition partners of the government to discuss the matter. However, no specific stance on his position has been announced by anyone. Opposition members on the other hand are continuously demanding that the PM should now resign from his post.
