Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan of Johor, revealed on Friday that he is on a strict diet to ensure his fitness for the Kembara Mahkota Johor which is going to start on Sunday.

Speaking to the media at Istana Pasir Pelangi, the Sultan expressed that he has been eating vegetable only for almost two months now in order to make sure he is slim and fit. He said his diet has helped him reduce about 11 kilograms and he looks slimmer now. He added, “Only vegetables. No rice, no biscuits, no bread, no carbohydrate whatsoever. [I’m being] more than a vegetarian. I even jog at 5am daily. Do l look a little slimmer now? Last time, my belly swerved here and there whenever I take a walk.”

Explaining further that the reduction in his weight is not only because of the diet he has been following but also has a lot to do with willpower. He said that his private secretary and doctor have also started to join him in the morning jog time.

Sultan also said, “When I exercise, everybody will exercise. However, they complain since they have to wake up early in the morning. You must have the willpower to lose weight. Whenever I want to put on weight, I put on weight, and whenever I want to lose weight, I can lose weight. No problem. But I think I look better this way. Basically, I feel like I’m a bit too heavy, and I get tired quite fast carrying all that excess weight. So that is why I decided to go on a diet and be prepared for this Kembara.”
