Jumiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) is adamant to restore provincial assembly in Balochistan. JUI-F Senator Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani met PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain with a delegation, stating three points for the restoration of provincial assembly.

Sherani suggested that President Asif Ali Zardari, Ch Shujaat Hussain and Asfandyar Wali should decide for the PPP and the PML-Q to take control of the Chief Ministry while the JUI-F and BNP form opposition in the provincial assembly. If not deemed suitable, the JUI could also take the responsibility of the office of the chief minister while the PPP and PML-Q form opposition. Another option is the restoration of Raisani government, but only if they commit that the chief minister would resign in a week’s time. Ch Shujaat is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to deem the practicality of third option.

JUI-F and BNP-Awami have been openly protesting against the Governor-rule. Senator Hafiz Hamdullah (JUI-F) claims that Balochis are highly against Governor’s rule and hence the provincial government must be restored immediately. He said the province deserves democracy and he will keep fighting for the people of Balochistan.

On the other hand, MQM has backed out from the demands of validating governor’s rule in Balochistan, forcing the government to delay the February 6 scheduled joint session of the Parliament.

Presidential Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said, “We have sufficient time to validate it from the joint session, which is mandatory.”

He insisted that the issue has no significance as the term of the existing assemblies is about to end.
