PML-N has called the peaceful return of former army chief Parvez Musharraf a success of democratic system maintained by political parties in Pakistan. PML-N media coordinator Muhammad Mehdi said Musharraf had forced the Sharif family to fly out of the county while today he was allowed to enter Pakistan in foolproof security.

Making reference to the small number of supporters who welcomed Gen (retired) Musharraf on the airport, Mehdi said it is evident that the masses understand the difference between dictatorship and democracy. He recalled that thousands of people had thronged the Islamabad airport to receive Nawaz Sharif.

Referring to the nomination of Mir Hazar Khan Khoso as caretaker prime minister by the Election Commission of Pakistan, Mehdi said his party has no objections over ECP’s decision as it was done in accordance with the constitution.

Acknowledging the development in Punjab, Mehdi said the provincial government has been successful in completing significant projects in every sector. He showed interest in contesting the upcoming elections if the party leadership deemed it feasible.

Replying to a question, he said the PTI failed to make even that big show it had managed on Oct 30, 2011. He termed Imran Khan’s supporters a fan club that could not form a political party and would disperse on the very first failure in the electoral contest. He accused PTI chief Imran Khan for making false promises during his speech.

Mian Nawaz Sharif will officially launch his party’s election campaign from Mansehra today. The PML-N chief will address a public gathering at the Thakra Stadium where Shah Jehan Yousuf, the former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) MNA from NA-20 is also expected to announce joining the PML-N.
