Initial police reports show that a nine-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by two unidentified persons in Assam’s Cachar district on Sunday night. The juvenile was visiting her grandfather in Pechachora village when the tragic incident took place. She belongs to Karimganj.

The victim was abducted by two unidentified men and taken to a house in Section 9 of Kallain Tea estate. She was raped and abandoned in the tea garden outside the house where passersby found her in a traumatic state and rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital. Judging from the marks around her neck, police suspects that she was also tried to be murdered.

Rape cases are on the mount in India while the Parliament has been trying to stricken the policies to curb the crime. The Opposition has been putting pressure on the government after a 10-year-old was raped and put behind the bars when she arrived at the station to file an FIR. Later, the two lady police constables were suspended and the SSP of the town accepts that the policewomen behaved in an unofficial manner.

Meanwhile, an agitated group of people staged protest outside the PM house on Sunday. Activists of Arvind Kejriwal’s party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were detained during the process. Another group of women activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demonstrated protests outside Sonia Gandhi’s residence shouting “Enough is enough!” and “Save the girl!”
