Earthquake tremors felt across Pakistan, Afghanistan and India

Earthquake tremors were felt across Pakistan around 1500 hours on Wednesday (today). Reports of the earthquake were received from Parachinar, Mohmad Agency, Shabqadar, Swat, Peshawar, Islamabad, Chiniot and Lahore.

The US Geological Survey website states that it was a magnitude 5.7 earthquake on the Richter scale while the Pakistan Meteorological Office reports the quake to be at 6.2 on the Richter scale. The tremors lasted over 10 seconds on average. Southeastern Afghanistan is been considered as the epicenter.

Hundreds fled out of the high-rising buildings for their safety. No loss of life has been reported until the filing of this report. Sources from Afghanistan and India have also reported the earthquake. Residents of Srinagar also panicked and rushed out of their houses.

April 16 earthquake destroyed several buildings on both sides of the Iran-Pakistan border, rattling buildings as far away as New Delhi and Dubai. Iran reported the death of 46 people during the incident. It was reportedly a magnitude 7.8 earthquake with its epicenter in Iran.
