UP Textile Minister Shiv Kumar Beria says the police force functions under his authority and cannot perform any task without his permission. He said no policeman can do anything without his orders and if anybody does so, he will be immediately fired.

“I am challenging that go to my constituency… I am the MLA for the fifth time. No SDM or policeman has the guts to sit down without my order, let alone work. We are not in the opposition we are in the government…

“How come they won’t listen… if they won’t listen then they have no right to remain on the seat for a single second. Within 24 hours they would be stripped of their uniform,” Beria said.

On the other hand, social welfare minister Ram Murti Verma said that crimes in UP cannot be curbed and there is no authority that can bring the crime ratio down. Verma’s remarks will mock the Akhilesh Yadav government which is already under immense pressure from opposition parties.

“Minor incidents have been happening, are taking place and will happen… no one can stop it completely,” Verma said.

Meanwhile in Mathura, tourism minister Om Prakash Singh got agitated when probed about the worsening law and order situation in the state.

“The defect is in your mind and not with the law and order situation,” Singh shot back at a reporter.
