Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) claims to conduct a thorough investigation – in cooperation with the government – of the facility and adjacent buildings. The property developer issued a statement on Friday alleging that it will ensure the structural integrity of affected area in Bonifacio Global City.
“[The inspection includes] ascertaining the proper operation of facilities, including the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) distribution system,” Antonino T. Aquino, ALI president and CEO, said in a statement.
Earlier on Friday, Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas declared that the explosion at a condominium unit in Two Serendra was caused by a gas explosion.
“As of now we cannot answer the question what actually set off the explosion, but at this point we can only determine the cause of the blast. All indications point that there was a leak in the gas distribution network of the building,” Interior Secretary Mar Roxas said.
Acknowledging the task force’s findings, Aquino emphasized that a more detailed report – with inputs of professional consultants – should be formed to explain the cause of the blast.
“[We will continue] to coordinate and cooperate with the task force and provide all the necessary assistance to ensure the completion of its investigation… We have been able to visit and assist the families of the three Abenson workmen who died. Those who were injured have been properly treated and those who were hospitalized have all been discharged, except for Mr. San Juan who remains in the ICU. Temporary lodging for the displaced residents has also been arranged,” Aquino said.
