Two monks received serious injuries during a terrorist attack in India on Sunday. One person was detained in connection with a series of blasts that hit Bodhgaya temple in Bihar. DIG Nayyer Hasnain Khan said the person’s identity card was found at the crime scene and he is now been interrogated by the NIA.

“One suspect hailing from Barachatti block in Gaya has been detained and we are questioning him. We have been analyzing the footage and based on that some more people would be questioned soon. All the CCTV cameras in the Mahabodhi temple premises were fully functional. As you must have seen in the CCTV footage, both state security personnel and temple’s own security personnel were present. I do not think there was any lapse on security front,” a senior police official said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has implied that the address of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi might have ignited terrorists in Bihar which resulted in such a tragic incident. Singh wrote on his Twitter page: “Amit Shah promises a Grand Temple at Ayodhya. Modi addresses Bihar BJP workers and asks them to teach Nitish a lesson… Next day bomb blasts at Mahabodhi temple at Bodhgaya. Is there a connect? I don’t know. Allow NIA to complete investigation please.”

On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the culprits will soon be held responsible. He said the NIA will be facilitated to complete its investigation as soon as possible.

“This is the first incident of serial blasts in Bihar. All angles are being investigated. We shouldn’t speculate on who was responsible for the serial blast. Let the NIA complete its probe and then the culprit will be brought to justice. Investigations are on, the probe teams have yet not reached to any conclusion. We will study the CCTV footage to see how attackers sneaked in,” CM Kumar said.
