PKR Denies Rumors Of Kesavan Leaving Party

The assemblyman of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), S Kesavan of Hutan Melintang in Perak, has completely denied that he has decided to leave his party, as had been claimed in the letter addressed to the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly. The copies of that letter were leaked to the media this Tuesday.

PKR claimed that the letter was fake and was sent by some irresponsible quarters using his name. ‘I have checked the letter, the signature is not mine and it is also not written using a letterhead designated for assemblymen for official letters,’ Kesavan informed the media on Tuesday, when asked to comment about the letter sent on February the 2nd, addressed to Datuk S.K Devamany, the Speaker. In the letter he is alleged to have declared that he has decided to leave PKR voluntarily on the same date. In it, Kesavan was declared to have said he was doing this because he had lost complete faith in the party’s leadership. Kesavan said after investigation, he was informed that a man claiming to be his representative, had given letter to the Speaker’s office on Tuesday. ‘This is an attempt to smear my image. I will be contacting the Speaker to clarify this matter,’ Kesavan told the media.

While the communications director Fahmi Fadzil said in a statement, ‘After obtaining an explanation from Kesavan, we confirm that he had not sent the letter and has not quit the party, He has been advised to lodge a police report on the fake letter.’ Devamany, on the other hand, said he would not like to comment on the letter.  ‘This is not related to legislative and State Assembly matters,’ he said, ‘I do not want the legislative body dragged into party matters if there any. Perhaps it is better for Kesavan to clarify to all about the letter,’
