The death toll keeps on rising in the aftermath of a deadly fire at a western Sydney nursing home. After the death of an 83-year-old woman, the death toll jumped to 11. The elderly woman passed away in the burns unit of Royal North Shore Hospital yesterday from injuries sustained in the blaze.

Fire wrecked the Quakers Hill Nursing Home early in the morning on November 18. Almost 90 residents from the nursing home were being cared for in emergency accommodation around Sydney. A total of 32 people were injured in the blaze.

Moreover, a 35-year-old nurse, Roger Dean, has been charged with murder. The male nurse is under police custody until his next court date in February. Police is preparing a brief of evidence against the man.

A NSW police spokesman said he would not speculate on whether Dean will face more murder charges but police does plan to lay additional charges against Dean.

Last week hundreds of mourners gathered at Quakers Hill Anglican Church to remember those killed and injured in the fire.
