Margaret Whitlam, the wife of the ex-Prime Minister of Australia, received her last respects on Friday at her memorial services conducted at the St. James Anglican Church.
Memorial services of Margaret Whitlam turned out to be an event of gathering for Australia’s most powerful class which included six Prime Ministers, cabinet ministers, premiers, governors, governor-generals, and attorney-generals. Everyone present at the occasion cherisher her loving, helpful, and down to earth nature.
Mrs. Whitlam passed out last week at the age of 92. Her death was due to medical illness. Her memorial services were conducted in central Sydney, a city very close to her friends and family including her husband, son, and father. Mr. Whitlam seemed much sad and broken at the ceremony as his daughter Catherine and son Antony delivered their eulogies.
Antony started off with his eulogy saying that if he started to speak about his mother’s full life, it would get really long but nonetheless he would like to mention that “Knowing our paternal lineage, many of you may feel that is no idle threat,” with a slight gesture of pointing to his dad in the church. Her daughter also mentioned that the patience levels of her mother were commendable as she kept a positive attitude towards life even in her last days, often kidding out things.
