A Bahai citizen and her nine-month old baby have been incarcerated in Iran, says a human rights organisation.

According to the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Bahai mother Mona Majidi and her baby were taken to a prison in Semnan on 18 December to serve a six-month jail term.

An appeals court had reportedly sentenced her to either pay a cash fine of 40 million Rials or serve out the jail term. Last Tuesday, local security forces went to her house and took her and the baby to prison.

The site reports that Majidi (or Ghorbani) is the third mother in Semnan who has been incarcerated along with her infant.
