Kawan Yavari arrested for sexually assaulting Ottawa women

The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit charged an Ottawa male with six counts of sexual assault as a result of a series of incidents that occurred throughout Ottawa between November 28, 2010 and January 2, 2011.

On November 28, 2010, a 19-year old woman was inappropriately touched while waiting for a bus in the 2500 block of Carling Avenue.
On December 1, 2010, a 17-year old woman was inappropriately touched while working in a retail store in the 2100 block of Carling Avenue.
On December 2, 2010, a 17-year old woman was inappropriately touched while waiting for public transit at the Lebreton Flats Transitway.
On December 21, 2010 a 20-year old woman was inappropriately touched while working in a retail store in the 100 block of Albert Street.
On December 28, 2010, a 25-year old woman was inappropriately touched while walking in the area of Elgin Street and Lees Avenue.
On January 2, 2011, a 24-year old woman was inappropriately touched while walking in the area of Montreal Road and Granville Street.

All incidents occurred in the late evening to early morning hours and involved similar suspect descriptions with respect to a long dark trench coat worn by the suspect.

Kawan YAVARI, age, 27, was arrested on February 24, 2011, and released from custody on March 2, 2011. He will appear in court on March 17, 2011.
