Man dies in brush fire, Pocologan, N.B

On March 16, 2011 at around 10:30 a.m., members of District 1 RCMP, along with the Blacks Harbour/Pennfield Fire Department, responded to a call at a home in Pocologan, N.B.

A 73-year-old man had been burning some brush on his property and, while tending to the fire, had become caught up in some branches in an area to which the fire had spread.

The man’s wife tried to free him but could not. The man died in the fire before help arrived. The woman was not injured, although some of her clothing burned. The name of the victim is not being released.
