One arrested for Montecristo Jewellers robbery, Vancouver

The Vancouver Police Department is releasing more information about yesterday afternoon’s robbery of Montecristo Jewellers at Oakridge Mall.

At about 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 22, two men entered the jewelry store and allegedly started to rob it. During the robbery a security guard was allegedly assaulted and pepper spray was discharged in the vicinity of the store.

A 23 year old Aldergrove man was taken into custody at the scene and had a replica handgun seized from him at the time of his arrest. Robert Steven Gallagher is currently in custody and is charged with one count each of assault, use of a firearm during the commission of a robbery, and use of an imitation firearm. Gallagher is known to police.

The other suspect made his escape in a waiting late ’90s green Chevrolet Astro van driven by a third suspect. The suspect that fled the mall is described as a Middle Eastern man in his 20’s.
