On Friday, June 3, 2011, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP arrested a man in connection with an incident that occurred on May 25, 2011.

49-year-old Philip Coldbrune Bennett, of Moncton, has been charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, and sexual assault. All of the charges are in relation to the same woman.

On May 25, officers responded to an emergency call at a residence in Riverview, N.B. A man was transported to hospital with undisclosed injuries, after trying to do harm to himself. He had been in hospital since that date.

Philip Bennett appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on June 6 and was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment. He is scheduled to appear in court next on July 7, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
