Nanaimo RCMP are conducting an investigation into the untimely death of a six week old baby boy.

Officers were called to a Nanaimo home early Sunday morning for a report of an unresponsive child. Officers along with BC Ambulance crews attended but were unable to revive the six week old infant.

Nanaimo Serious Crime Unit members are investigating the death and are being assisted by the BC Coroners Service.

“This investigation is in its early stages. We are also sensitive to the fact a child has died and therefore, no further information will be released at this time”, said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
