Death of Edmonton man Bruce Dumais now ruled a murder

Edmonton’s Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that the death of a 22-year-old man early Sunday morning is a homicide.

Bruce Dumais, 22, died as a result of a stab wound.

EPS Homicide Section detectives continue to investigate in an effort to identify a suspect or suspects.

After reviewing video surveillance from the area, detectives have determined that there were a number of people along 107 Avenue between 106 & 107 Streets during the time of this altercation (between the hours of 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18 and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, June 19), and would like to speak with them.

The people in the area at the time may not have been fully aware that an altercation was taking place. The victim was wearing a dark t-shirt, jean shorts, white socks and no shoes.

Background :

Shortly after midnight on June 19th Downtown Division Patrol officers responded to a report of an altercation. At this point it is not known how many individuals may have been involved.

Upon arrival, officers found a male believed to be in his early 20s lying on the ground in the area of 107 Street and 107 Avenue suffering from an apparent stab wound. Paramedics also responded to the scene and transported the male to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.
