Ottawa police seize over $1 million in marihuana

The Ottawa Police Service charged two Ottawa men with drug related offences and seized more than $1 million of marihuana as a result four search warrants executed on June 28 and 29, 2011. A third man is being sought.

The Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Unit, executed four CDSA search warrants targeting marihuana grow operations in the City of Ottawa and Montague Township. Two marihuana grow operations using stolen electricity were dismantled and a total of 1,380 plants seized. A further 20 kg of marihuana was confiscated.

In total, police seized in excess of $1,667,727 of marihuana and over $7,000 in currency.

Wai Leung NG, age 38, was arrested and charged with production of marihuana, possession for the purpose, theft of electricity and proceeds of crime over.

Jason TANG, age 26, was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose and proceeds of crime over.

Police would like to speak with Wei Feng NG, age 44, of Ottawa, in relation to this file.
