Police bust two bawdy houses in Vaughan

Officers working out of the York Regional Police Drugs and Vice Unit have arrested nine people after search warrants were executed at two illegal bawdy houses in the City of Vaughan and one residence in the City of Mississauga.

In December 2010, members of the Drugs and Vice Unit began an investigation into the activities occurring at two spas, Blue Eyes Spas, located within 300 meters of each other, in the area of Bowes Road and Rivermede Road. The investigation revealed that sexual acts were being exchanged for money on the premises.

On Wednesday, July 6, 2011, as a result of the ongoing investigation, Criminal Code search warrants were executed at the two spas, resulting in the arrest of six female employees, the owner and one male customer found inside. Investigators seized a quantity of Canadian currency and equipment used to provide spa services.

Investigators seized approximately $12,000 inside the residence. Further investigation revealed that one of the female employees had been forced to work and turn all her earnings over to the accused John PIKE or face physical harm. Fearing for her safety, investigators located and arrested Mr. PIKE for Human Trafficking.

Mr. KHALIL has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Mr. PIKE has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 11, 2011.
