The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) continues to investigate a suspicious death at a residential property on Portugal Cove Road in St. John’s, NL and is seeking the assistance of the general public.

Shortly after 10:30 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2011, RNC Patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance between several adult males at the St. John’s home. One adult male, who remains unidentified, sustained what is believed to be a gunshot wound and was pronounced at the scene by medical practitioners. The RNC is working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm the cause of death. A second adult male was transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Major Crime Unit does not believe this murder to be a random act of violence.

Major Crime officers are also seeking the assistance of the general public in locating a 25 year old person of interest named PHILIP WAYNE PYNN. The RNC has information that PYNN may have been present at the scene during the shooting and possibly have valuable information regarding this investigation. He is described as approximately 5’7”, 170 pounds with hazel eyes and a short brush cut. PYNN has numerous tattoos on both arms and several facial tattoos that may assist in his identification. The RNC is advising the public not to approach PHILIP PYNN as he is potentially dangerous and possibly armed. Anyone with information in regards to PYNN’s whereabouts, or the investigation, is asked to contact the police.
