Georgina man Romaine Jeremia Johnson arrested for sexual assault

Investigators working out of the York Regional Police Sexual Assault Unit have arrested a 26-yearold man in connection with the sexual assault of an adult female in the Town of Georgina.

On Friday, July 15, 2011, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the victim was approached by the suspect while walking in the area of Black River Road and Dalton Road in the Town of Georgina.

The suspect sexually assaulted the victim before she broke free and fled to a nearby store to call for help.

The suspect fled from the area on a bicycle.

The victim received minor physical injuries during the incident.

As a result of investigation, on Monday, July 18, 2011, the suspect turned himself in to investigators working out of the York Regional Police #3 District Headquarters in the Town of Georgina where he was arrested without incident.

Romaine Jeremia JOHNSON, 26, of Georgina

CHARGE:
Sexual Assault

Mr. JOHNSON has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket sometime today.
