Scheduled for release on July 20, 2012, the film is a long way off but expectations are running high considering the success of Christopher Nolan in his last few projects. Yes, his first two films of the proposed Nolan Batman Trilogy were great but let’s not forget his critically acclaimed Inception of 2010.

A teaser trailer for Batman 3, The Dark Knight Rises was recently released, over a year ahead of the release of the movie. Gawd, we’re going to have to wait a long, long time before we get to see this one. Over the next year I predict more teasers to whet our appetites for another Nolan blockbuster. Andy why not? Christopher Nolan is da man. This guy creates a quality product and looking at the grosses for his last few films, I’m sure he’s got pretty much carte blanche at the studios. Yes, art is art but movies are also a business and making a profit is the name of the game. Nobody is going to bank you or any project if you don’t show yourself as capable of getting the public to shell out for a movie ticket. It is interesting to look at the buzz surrounding the last Batman film with Heath Ledger. Judging by the gross of this film, it would seem the interest in the film went beyond your normal Batman, action hero movie goer. Yes, Ledger was that good and did push the film up over the top. Does Nolan have something up his sleeve for this third and final outing of the Batman series?

The 2nd clip shows Robin Williams supposedly in the role of Hugo Strange, a nemesis of Batman. Unfortunately, I can find no confirmation of this so is it true or not? This may very well turn out to be the card up the sleeve Nolan has for this film. Whatever the case, I’m sure there will be lots of surprises over the next year as more tidbits about the film trickle out.
