On August 11, 2011, 21 charges were laid against six men arrested yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation into the trade and trafficking of illegal marijuana. Following is a list of the charges.

Hung Tan Nguyen, 44, of Fredericton, N.B. – possession of marijuana, and nine counts of trafficking of marijuana.
Linh Quoc Anh Huynh, 38, of Woodbridge, ON – trafficking of ecstasy, and three counts of trafficking of marijuana.
Son Cong Ho, 59, of Woodstock, N.B. – trafficking of marijuana.
Thanh Su Le, 37, of Tracy, N.B. – possession and production of marijuana, mischief, and theft of electricity.
Van Ho Thai, 43, of Charters Settlement, N.B. – trafficking of marijuana.
Luan Van Le, 46, of Fredericton, N.B. – trafficking of marijuana.

"We believe these individuals are part of two separate organized crime groups that have been operating in our communities and residential neighbourhoods, and that they have ties to larger organized crime groups in Ontario and Quebec," says Superintendent Guy Rook, the officer in charge of Federal Policing for the RCMP in New Brunswick.

"Although we live in a very safe province, we know that there are still individuals who want to take advantage of others and commit crimes here. Through police agencies working together, we’ve been able to disrupt the activities of these two groups and keep them from selling drugs in our communities."

On August 10, members of the New Brunswick RCMP’s Coordinated Marijuana Enforcement Team, Integrated Proceeds of Crime Unit, Drug Section and other RCMP members, along with the Fredericton Police Force and Woodstock Police Force, executed search warrants at three residences, two in Fredericton and one in Tracy. Four men were arrested in Fredericton, one in Tracy, and one in Woodstock.

The searches and arrests stem from an investigation that began in April 2009. Throughout the investigation, police seized a quantity of pills, 65 pounds of packaged marijuana, 260 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, and growing equipment.

Hung Tan Nguyen, Linh Quoc Anh Huynh and Son Cong Ho have been remanded into custody. The will appear in court next on August 22, 2011 for a bail hearing. Thanh Su Le, Van Ho Thai and Luan Van Le have been released on a number of conditions. They will appear in court next on August 30 to enter a plea.
