Hamilton Police Service is investigating alleged sexual offences that occurred from 1969-1972 at a property located on Powerline Rd in Ancaster. This location is now a privately owned property and the current owners have nothing to do with the incidents under investigation.

During the specified period this property was known as the ‘Way-J Boys Ranch’ of Copetown, and was a group home for foster children who were wards at the time.

We are interested in speaking to any people who were staff or residents at this location during this time period.

UPDATE

As a result of the media release in May, witnesses came forward and the investigation resulted in the arrested of 68 year old Howard Wayne JONES of British Columbia.

Howard Wayne JONES of Salmon Arm, B.C., was arrested on August 8, 2011 by the RCMP, who were acting on a Canada Wide Warrant issued in Hamilton. JONES was returned to Hamilton for a Bail Hearing on Friday, August 12, 2011.

CHARGES: Indecent Assault on a Male
Gross Indecency

These charges relate to offences in 1969 and therefore the Criminal Code as it stood at that time is referenced.

It remains a possibility that there are more victims.
